Carmelo grew up in the Philippines, in the city of Manila where he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy. Growing up, his family has always been into sports, which is one of the main reasons why he chose physiotherapy as a profession. He has always been passionate about sports, especially basketball, which made him eager to learn more about sports related injuries.

With his desire to gain more qualifications and improve his practical knowledge before commencing work in Australia, he decided to complete a graduate certificate in Clinical Rehabilitation at Flinders University in South Australia. Through work experience within hospital and aged care settings, Carmelo has continuously gained a sense of fulfilment from clients achieving their goals which has lead to him enjoying his profession more and more.  In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball aswell as playing music on his guitar.

Career

After completing his Physical Therapy degree at the University of the City of Manila, Carmelo worked for a year with a basketball team where he was responsible for treating and preventing injuries of the team members. He then proceeded to gain experience working as a physiotherapist within a private hospital where he discovered how diverse the practice of physiotherapy can be. Carmelo has significant experience in working with the elderly population through a long commitment to aged care work. Within this setting he focused on maintaining and improving client's mobility and function to assist their ability to live independently and increase their quality of life. At Forefront Physio, Carmelo is keen to help in the assessment and management of sports related injuries due to his long term interest in the matter.
